Our Store, built in the 1950’s is controlled by the Ngarluma and Yindjibarndi Foundation the sole shareholder. It is the primary retail outlet for this thriving township including surrounding communities and the ever-increasing tourism market. The enterprise addresses a wide range of the areas of retail vertical markets including groceries, hardware, clothing, kitchenware, giftware, prepared foods, frozen goods, white goods, sporting goods and automotive accessories.
Management endeavors to:
Identify “best practice” in terms of nutritional programs marketed by the store for the Roebourne township and its customers. The management will continue to assess the capacity of the store in relation to best practice, and increase sales of healthier foods. Management has commenced a strategy to demonstrate its commitment to nutritional health and improving the range of products available. We aim to:
- Introduce a comprehensive range of fresh produce packaged in store representing ++ kg of fresh produce bi-weekly at affordable competitive prices
- Introduce low fat Yoghurts and a range of dairy products consistent with nutritional health requirements
- Introduce hi-fibre breads including whole-meals, multi-grains and cereals
- Introduce a range of salt reduced products and iodised salt as recommended by agencies
We seek dialogue, advice and guidance by local health service providers on key issues effecting nutritional health promotion and strategies for the store to develop.
As the major source of food and nutrition in the township, Roebourne Store has a major role to play in promoting the physical well being of the local community and can be thought of as an essential service as well as a commercial enterprise.
Utilising a committee to help guide us in the operation of the store, we apply policies which can benefit the community in a variety of ways, including the use of effective nutrition policies, the range, volume and price of foods.
Monday to Friday: 0830hrs to 1730hrs - Saturday 1000hrs to 1300hrs - Sunday 1000hrs to 1600hrs!
